Reliable switching of LED lights
LED lighting nowadays is standard in many areas such as office buildings, shopping centres or commercial properties. But the short but very high inrush currents of LED lamps are often ignored. These can cause massive failures in the installation and therefore require special solutions.
The hybrid relay IK 3070/200 is ideally suited for this. It perfectly combines the advantages of robust relay technology with wear-resistant semiconductor technology.
In stairwells of large properties or in the access areas of production buildings, LED lamps are now used instead of conventional light bulbs. The retrofitting seems to be completely unproblematic and promises high energy efficiency. However, caution is required: LED lamps have inrush current pulses in the µs range, which can reach 1000 times the rated current. In purely mechanical relays, the capacitive switching behaviour then leads to rapid wear of the contacts and premature failure of the switching devices.
This is not the case with our hybrid relay IK 3070/200. When switched on, the solid-state first switches at the zero crossing of the AC voltage. A few milliseconds later the relay contact takes over the continuous current and ensures low power dissipation. The device is suitable for continuous currents up to 16 A and environmental temperatures up to 60 °C.
