ITC-PC Update, Integrated Simulation with SUMO
ITC-PC now supports direct simulation inside the tool.
Simulation of intersection programming is essential when validating logic quality and when demonstrating the measurable impact of advanced adaptive algorithms. Until now, this process has required significant setup:
• Manual configuration of simulation environments
• Integration with ITC software emulators or physical ITC hardware
• Extensive engineering hours
• High license costs for external simulation platforms
This has limited the practical use of simulation in daily programming work.
What’s new
We have now integrated the open-source simulator SUMO (Simulation of Urban MObility) directly into ITC-PC.
This enables every ITC programmer to:
• Run traffic simulations directly from the programming environment
• Test and validate intersection logic instantly
• Evaluate adaptive strategies before field deployment
• Improve performance without hardware setup
• Reduce engineering hours and external software costs
Strategic impact
This update lowers the barrier to high-quality validation and makes advanced optimization accessible for any projects.
The result is:
• Faster development cycles
• Higher programming quality
• Stronger documentation of performance improvements
• Better positioning of ITC and the advanced Smart solutions
This is a significant step toward making simulation a standard part of the ITC workflow rather than a specialist add-on.
We are proud to demonstrate this new capability at Intertraffic Amsterdam, where it will be showcased live at the SWARCO booth. We look forward to welcoming customers and partners and showing how integrated simulation strengthens our ITC ecosystem.
